Chronic Stress

Stress is a natural response to challenging situations or a perceived threat. Everyone deals with stress to some degree; but some experience it more than others. We all experience stress for different reasons. For some, stress comes easily and for some it only comes with especially difficult circumstances. Our perceptions of life situations and our own personal coping skills have a lot to do with how we manage our stress.

For those who experience chronic and excessive stress, it is possible for it to become something more than just stress over life circumstances. Anxiety and/or depression can develop or become worse. You may experience constant worry, times of panic, restlessness, intrusive thoughts, difficulty sleeping, and a variety of physical symptoms. Or maybe you start to feel depressed and hopeless about the life situations that are causing chronic stress.

I have spent years helping many people learn to manage their symptoms of anxiety and depression. Here are just a few ways I work with clients dealing with chronic stress, anxiety, and depression:

  1. Identifying each person’s specific situations and thought patterns that trigger stress, anxiety, or depression and helping to form healthier thought patterns.

  2. Identifying issues in relationships with others that could be contributing anxiety and depression and working to identify healthier boundaries and communication skills that may be necessary.

  3. Identifying positive actions that may help to decrease anxiety and depression.

  4. Help to learn calming and relaxation skills that can be used daily.

We can work together to find solutions that help you to feel more peace and happiness in your life and less stress and anxiety. If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment, you can call 601-708-9558.
